Ordered a butterfly kit today for $25 using Amazon Prime and it arrived today. The kit comes with a pop up butterfly cage and a voucher for a cup of caterpillars. I think the students will love watching the miracle of metamorphosis, and it is neat there is a company that provides small caterpillars with all necessary food, and cage. It takes a week to get the babies by mail and then two weeks to reach adult butterfly. The butterflies can be released when the weather is warm. I plan to document their growth in preparation for teaching this Fall. The price uses up half of the lab fee, but I think it will be a good way to get their attention and start off the course. I think the butterflies a pretty, also.
